CATARACT
PATIENT STORIES
Benjamin Orenshaw:
Our dog Ben is now 13 years and 9 months old, he is very handsomely
marked, tan and white with big brown eyes. Just a bundle of joy
and full of fun, a Jack Russell. At the age of 12 we noticed a cataract
forming in the left eye and it became progressively worse until
he lost vision in it. After examination by the veterinary surgeon
we learned that the right eye was losing sight also. For the last
year or so we noticed that he couldn't determine the direction of
sounds and yet he could hear commands. His hearing was deteriorating,
one ear almost deaf.
Together we decided his poor eye sight and hearing loss his attitude
changed, still beautiful but had lost his desire for fun.

Following the vets examination and advice, we decided to give Ben
surgery to remove the cataract from his left eye. The result of
this operation is truly amazing. He can now see very well, in some
measure making up for his hearing loss and his whole attitude has
changed. It seems that years have been added to his life and once
again he is a bundle of joy and full of life.
