CATARACT
PATIENT STORIES
Celeste Linaker:
Celeste who is now 12½ years old and has the best nature is a
Jack Russell/Australian Terrier X. She was our son's 17 birthday
present however when he moved out of home Celeste had to stay with
Grandma and Grandpa as she was and still is 'boss' of the house.
When Celeste was about 10 years old we noticed that a film was
starting to form on her right eye. Our local vet referred us to
Dr Robin who confirmed that this was a cataract and that one also
was also starting to form on the left eye.
Following some delay for recovery to injuries such as a lacerated
leg from jumping through the window to get the daily paper and then
a hamstring injury Celeste was reassessed as still being a good
candidate for cataract surgery and lens implants to both eyes.
Celeste had her surgery in April 2007.
It was difficult to keep Celeste quiet for 10 days after the surgery
as she brings in the paper every day and lets everyone know this
is her house.
Before the surgery she would have difficulty locating the paper
however she can now pick it up 'on the run'. With her sight fully
restored she now has a good quality of life and accesses the steps
to all levels of our backyard without any problems.
We are so pleased with the success of the surgery and appreciate
the excellent care provided to Celeste by all of the doctors and
staff at Animal Eye Care since our initial visit.
The Linaker family.
